Variant and patient data

LOVD stores the variant and patient data separately. Each gene has it's own list of variants. Therefor, you first need to select a gene before you can view any variant and patient information. So if you enter a LOVD database website, you first need to select a gene to look at. If this LOVD installation contains only one gene, you are forwarded automatically.

Selecting a gene forwards you to the gene's homepage. It will show you some general information on the gene, including the number of variants and patients stored in the database and external links with more information about this gene. All these links can be configured by the gene's curator.

If there are any variants stored in the gene's variant tables, additional links will be shown on the gene homepage; the unique variant listing, the complete variant listing, and the variants with no known pathogenicity. The first two are also available through the Variants tab.
